Why does it bother so many people about what is going on with the Parker board, when most don't even belong. Christ, it is one of the biggest bargains in the computer world. A membership lets you buy unlimited research letters from the original factory records, and they recently added all the Remington data. I purchase one for every Parker I am seriously considering buying, not just the ones I do. A $40 dollar letter may reveal information that makes thousands of dollars difference in a gun. Check the price and time of checking a gun through places like Cody.
The classifieds are limited to members mostly because they sell to each other at realistic costs, cutting out BS and dealer's dreams. Most of them buying and selling there are really collectors and want to keep the guns in the hands of people that care for them and maintain them properly. It isn't just guns either. I can't believe the number of great buys I have made on tools, vintage clothing, reloading equipment, bamboo fly rods, gun accessories etc, not to mention the 20-25 lbs of raw pecans I buy at Thanksgiving every year directly from a grove.
They started an upgrade on a project to put their web server under their own control and speed it up. They were mislead by the cable installer. They will be down a month or so. They may give you a month free, or maybe not. I don't really care. My loss will be $5 or so at worst. I don't care. There is no replacement for what they do anywhere else. They recently paid out 5 figures for some crucial research data.
Did I mention they put out an enjoyable slick printed monthly magazine full of interesting articles, information and history? My state fish and game issues a similarly sized mag every month that is frankly not as well done and it costs the same as a Parker yearly membership, which would seem by most accountings make the association membership effectively free.
It is not a general board for everyone. For it's purpose it is a bargain. You can sign on and read about guns, hunting, gunsmithing and buy guns and parts. They generally don't put up with whining and bitching or Social Media style abuse. Take that to X or the corner bar.
