An acquaintance of mine claimed to eat armadillos occasionally.

I ain't never been that hungry.

I saw a recipe for opossum that stated you need to begin by catching the ‘possum a month or so before you were going to eat him, to get him fat on apples and persimmons and clean out whatever else he ate prior.

I guess I’d just eat the apples, and call it good.

I've known of people to do the same for snapping turtles. They would put the thing in a no. 3 washtub and run fresh water over it for a couple weeks to "clean him out". I don't guess it's any worse than what they do to lobsters.

If you've ever been to New Orleans and had turtle soup as an appetizer you know how wonderful it can be. I'll never clean and cook a turtle, but I will stoop to enjoying it when i'm visiting the Big Easy.

The only reptile I’ve ever consumed was frog legs, at a restaurant that doesn’t exist anymore. They were good enough, but, I passed over the Friday night special of deep fried perch to eat them.

I eat the perch, these days, the guys gushing over gator tail, or, whatever, can have it.

I did not enjoy Gator tail in the least.

I've consumed a few rattlesnakes. Good enough. Long ago when I was a land surveyor my boss would catch and kill every turtle we came across. We came across a lot of them. I felt a little bit weird about eating something that was probably older than me.

Well....coming down the home stretch for summer here, so we pinched off the remaining flowers on the plants to try to get everything to ripen on the vine before we're both gone for a bit.

Back when I lived in MN I never passed a snapping turtle. Good eating there. Cut the head off, hang them by the tail until they stop moving, it bleeds them out and they are easier to process when they are not moving, it can be hours.

Yes, turtle. After cutting the head off, attach the neck skin, similar to a foreskin, to a garden hose . Turn it on and it separates the rest of the turtle from the meat. I don’t know many recipes, but browning and cooking in a heavy pot in the oven created some fun meals.
