Passing on news of our community: Jim Fender dropped by Northern Virginia a few weeks ago for breakfast and a long talk. He passed on greetings to Dustin (Lefusil ) and discussed his many projects. He is an Alabama native and graduate of the UofA and long involved with Air Force intelligence, F-4 Phantom, C-130 pilot and involved in many other military issues as well (including being the money gate-keeper in Iraq and being a military lawyer) in addition to indulging his writing and shooting habits. I didn't realize that he also wrote a number of historical novels in alias including a revolutionary war series.
He said David Travallion is still well in Maine but is starting to decline, memory slipping a bit, but is being cared for. I have tried to call David (Crossed Chisels) several times over the past couple of years. Jim said he doesn't much answer the phone.
Mr. Fender is a fascinating man with a world of gun stories and an excellent writer. Hope to see him again.
