I saw a recipe for opossum that stated you need to begin by catching the ‘possum a month or so before you were going to eat him, to get him fat on apples and persimmons and clean out whatever else he ate prior.

I guess I’d just eat the apples, and call it good.

Before they were a real pest, I knew a family who would live trap an occasional feral hog for the table. By the time they butchered it, the hogs went from snapping, grunting and head butting the cage, to round butterballs, looked like they were wagging their little tails at feed time.
