Another Big Bore joins the Collection - An A-Square in 460 A-Square cal.
Once again I couldn't resist adding another Big Bore rifle to my battery of Big Bores. I have had several A-Square rifles over the years, and in spite of their clunky appearance of the stock, the felt recoil is remarkably reduced over rifles in similar calibers. The seller recognized from previous sales that I would be interested in buying this one. It came topped with a LER Leopold 2x scope and dies and brass. The 460 A-Square cartridge is the same as the 460 Weatherby cartridge except that it is based on a 2-1/2" long case as opposed to the 2.9" of the original 460 Weatherby case. The original 460 Weatherby caliber is capable of launching a 500g bullet at 2600 fps, where as the 460 A-Square caliber launches the same 500g bullet at 2450 fps. Albeit 150 fps lower velocity, its still capable taking down any dangerous game animal on the planet. The forward "scout mounting" location of the scope keeps the action open for fast reloading if the situation requires.
