I may have tested this. wink

AI is great, when used with caution and a fair amount of skepticism.

It's just like asking a question on an internet forum, but with a much larger base of potential answers. Just like answers on an internet forum, some of the people replying know what they are talking about, and some don't...but AI does give more "credit" to frequently found replies - even if they are wrong.

It's important to ask the question you want answered in an objective way - otherwise AI will try to prove the point you try to make and will seek out information to do that - and may ignore information to the contrary.

If you asked it, for instance, to "Please prove that the .410 shotgun gauge is only useful for maiming squirrels." it'll go look for data that supports that and ignore that in the the hands of expert shooters, it has other uses.

A.I. seems to be improving in some respects, but it still has many faults, and still relies on a massive amount of misinformation to arrive at it's conclusions or advice. I'm not sure it can reach a point where it can filter out the dominant paradigm if that is wrong. The fact that A.I. has been shown to simply make things up when it doesn't have an accurate answer is a huge red flag.

If A.I. was only being developed and utilized by those with nothing but the best of intentions to use it for the good of humanity, and the ability to control it, I'd be all for it.

Unfortunately, it will certainly be utilized by our enemies, our adversaries, and evil people who hate us. We are already being warned that it would be a great mistake to allow China for example, to get an A.I. advantage. It will be used by criminals to become much more efficient at fraud, theft, and deception.

So I predict the future of A.I. will become something like attempting to keep nuclear weapons out of the hands of radical Islamic lunatics, which is why I'm not at all bothered about paying around $4.00 per gallon for gas right now. I am not so nearsighted and foolish to think that simply ignoring the threat, or paying bribes to suicidal lunatics wouldn't inevitably lead to an eventual nuclear attack, and price shocks that would make our present situation seem like a bargain. But then it will be too late.

I do admit that the Democrats who brought us a minimum of 25% overall price inflation are doing a good job of fear mongering, and attempting to make people forget Trump's many accomplishments, and also totally neglecting to even mention how their policies got us in this mess. They will mishandle A.I. in the same manner if they get the chance.

I am a huge fan of AI. When you get into it really deeply it can be an enormous help.

Take an intelligence analyst who has to report on say Mali and the civil/Islamic war there - and has to read everything and analyze everything. You can ask,
-- "name the provinces; the governors, their tribal affiliations."
-- "What is the current relationship between JNIM, ISIS, AQIM and the Tuareg Nationalists?"
-- "Is JNIM actually Fulani nationalist aspirations hiding under Islamic fundamentalism?" Etc.
You can get a very complete rundown of the daily reporting and press.

Or you are an Economist working at IMF on a complex economic model for China and you start by needing cites and wind up getting summaries of alternative viewpoints.

Or you are repairing a 2001 Jeep Cherokee and there is a carburetor screw you are not familiar with. . .etc...etc.

Yet there is the downside. One son does a lot of video editing. Apparently a Japanese firm is using AI to search for patent and copyright infringement and any mention of a copyright name, even in a review of a film for instance, triggers an AI lawsuit.

DUNE the novel predicted this. Humans ultimately banned computers/machines and created human computers trained from birth called "Mentats" (we would call them "polymaths" in the traditional world); But you cannot put the cork back into the bottle now, just as the Ukrainian War has cemented drones as being able to destroy an armored brigade in 30 minutes before one gun is fired.

But for now to ignore this resource is like driving a horse and buggy in the age of Henry Ford.

Or a Ford in the age of Elon Musk.

Now I am equating a few things that may not exactly be AI/KI, but the same scan protocol is there, adding Flock type Cameras to the Mix.

This is AI/KI @ it's Best and all because there was no Ground Truth, QA/QC, if the story about the Tennessee Grandmother is even True. It seems so odd, that is is difficult to believe. I think $10 Million is cheap & the sum for the error should be a Trillion or so. What would YOU charge them?

Ans whilst on the liability topic & I am on my stump, I think these Medical Compagnies that require all your pertinent info(and mainly due to Government Rules /Laws) should be heavily liable for letting your sensitive info to be captured by a Hacker due to their lax data storage protocol. Their fine should also be in the Trillions.

I know, I know, I am on the Hunt of a Red Herring but it is Saturday Morning....

Serbus,

Raimey

How do you answer such factual happenings concerning AI, Gene? Or, does your ability to gather what you believe to be accurate information trump such terrible infractions of justice upon innocents?

Stan (not a big fan of AI)

Stanton, there are human caused injustices, concentration camps, Ludowici speed traps too. AI is not a panacea but it is a tool. Use it and you might be surprised.

By the way, there's a question that's been bothering for 50 years that you might be able to help with. When Gladys Knight and her beau left LA on a midnight train to Georgia, where were they going? I always assumed Macon area but it could have been the Georgia low country.

According to the AI they had to toss something off the Chattahooche bridge.
