I know, Ted. But, having watched Comp-N-Choke ship tens of thousands of packages, including guns almost daily, I bow to their decision that UPS is the better of the lot. Not perfect, but the best bet going.
Tracking works with them, and there's no packages sitting in a facility for days, or weeks, ignored.
It's going to boil down to each person's experience with the "big three", but when you can take advantage of a company's experience that is thousands of times more than your own, why not pay attention?
There is(was?, I moved away) a large UPS warehouse in SLC that sold off all of the undeliverable, lost and insurance paid items in their system. Tens of thousands of items for sale and more every day. I bought many firearms accessories.
ALL of them damage or lose packages.
I only use USPS as the UPS and FedEx depots are too far away and I don't ship enough guns for daily pick up.
I have had the long delivery problem with one rifle in USPS limbo for 30 days. ATF and Postal Inspectors involved. Showed up a week later with tracking never updating.
