After fitting and resoldering ribs, I am going to rust blue the barrels.

Barreles have no top lettering, and would like to restore them if possible. I plan to put the lettering with laser, as hand engraving would be too costly for this proyect.

Can someone let me know the original lettering a Scott from arround 1900 should read?? Photos available?? Something like W.C Scott & Son, London SW England

As for the lettering font, the closest font I have been able to find is Bank Gothic, although IA said:
Bank Gothic → Muy similar en estructura y proporciones
Eurostile / Microgramma → Estilo técnico-industrial clásico
Orbitron (Google Fonts) → Variante moderna, bastante parecida
Exo 2 → Más suave, pero adaptable
Rajdhani → Estrecha y geométrica

Has anyone attempted to make new letteting with laser, what font should be used to look period correct???

As a laser engraver owner, I'd do a fair amount of testing on other items before I ran the final on a set of gun barrels.

You don't want to go too deep.

I've not blued barrels, and probably won't, but it's easy to over do it if you're not careful.

If you're using someone who has done a lit of this, there's probably nothing to worry about.

The SN is listed as 61XXX (c. 1900) and the proof marks are 1896 - 1904
The 7S is somewhat unique and might ID the font

What a fine responce, Drew. Of course not all lettering on Scott and other barrels is the same, even in the same period.

Drew, the address number isn't 7S but 78 Shaftesbury Avenue, London, which was W & C Scott's London retail shop.

I don't know if this will be helpful or not, but there are good pictures of the barrel marking on this set on ebay, I am not the seller, but notice that he does have other parts

UHHH, that is a long street name in Regents Circus.. I see the barrel is damascus, so it has to be previous to my barrel. I will use the Shaftesbury Avenue lettering

So far I have the following. Letters are 11, and first one is 13, so there is an increase. Bold and cursive

What do you think??

BTW laser lettering should be done before or after hot water blueing?? If done after, then some cold blueing should be used on the lettering to protect
