Ted, I have a hard time guessing what a monoculture advocate might be , but your post rivals Craig's for sheer incoherence. My preparation of kids for college was teaching advanced placement English. My students did well. Your grumpy reply is an easy out. We could have a real discussion about the merits of preservation vs development. A monoculture advocate would be somebody who believes time stands still in the forest, and anything mankind does to utilize the resources in the forest is evil big business profit raping. They believe that any use of a forrest is inherently evil, and to be opposed with law at every juncture.
That’s you Bill. Did you bother to open the link to the Ruffed Grouse Society and the explanation of logging on habitat? Do you realize that unlogged habitat eventually becomes a monoculture of mature forrest, that eventually becomes a clear cut of a different form, destroyed by fire? Do you grasp that a monoculture is almost completely devoid of wildlife? Do you grasp that almost all wildlife does better under managed conditions in a forrest that produces a checkerboard pattern of older growth, newer growth and clear cutting that provides openings in the forrest?
Nobody is proposing building superhighways in the woods.
I note your lack of capitalization and correct punctuation in your equally incoherent posts, and seriously question any notion that anyone did well under you as an instructor. I would have guessed that an advanced placement English instructor would take a bit of pride in his digital communication, and show us his skill in that regard.
