You think they lied to you, because it justifies your belief that they lied to you.
You were basing your calling this person a liar on what you projected from a screen that is notoriously inaccurate.
The person at the post office gains nothing telling you anything they do not believe is true.
Lies are for purpose.
Your misunderstanding of what lying is is tragic.
They aren’t out to get you. There is/was no calculus to deceive you for purpose.
The person at the counter doesn’t even know what the thing is other than it’s a number on the screen. It has the same value to them as lint.
I don’t think they track packages like an Uber eats pizza where Google is showing you turn by turn directions where the box is.
At best, it is bulk processing. The packages get scanned as they get loaded on a truck, and then they get scanned when they leave the truck. For all anyone knows, the contractor’s truck was listed as in, but wasn’t fully unloaded yet because somebody went to the dentist.
These rant threads just show how messed up the thinking of people has become.
Our letter carrier was a man named Bill. We liked him. A Korean War veteran. He had three kids. We all went to school together.
My mom gave him cookies now and then. A card at Christmas.
