I have to remove the butt stock from an Ithaca Flues SxS for refinishing. The screws are easily removed, but the trigger plate won't budge from the action. All the screws are out, including the one under the top lever.
Many SxS's have a screw at the front of the trigger plate, right under the water table, but this one doesn't. There at a couple of pins on the side of the action, but these are for the hammers and sears.
In my Ithaca book, there are side view pictures of a Flues receiver with the trigger plate off. My question is if there's a trick to getting it off, or is mine just stuck on tight after 83 yrs (made in 1924).
If anyone has a schematic or experience, I'd like to hear from them before I try any strong arm methods. It's a nice old gun - one broken part & it's just another pile of junk!
