If you guys are using Mt Laurel browning/blueing formula before blueing doesn't the metal have to be heated beforehand. And how hot does it have to be before the blueing mixture will work?
All the best

If you guys don't mind the labor intensive tasks of preparation, degreasing, hand polishing, etc., then by all means use whatever water you have. If you think the water doesn't make or break the blue job, you are in for an education. Costs very little extra to use distilled water or rain water. Screw up by using any old water and you'll have to do most of the preparation all over again. I learned the hard way. One experiment with tap water netted me about three hours re-do time. Just my 2CW. And I've blued dozens of guns with Pilkington's rust blue. Chopper

Hello Yeti et al,

Could I trouble you to send the Orlen article out one more time to jmccarty5500@verizon.net? I started prepping a scrap barrel for practice today and would really appreciate any guidance the article may offer.

Many thanks,

jerry

TTT

Or, if someone who recieved the article wouldn't mind passing it along to jmccarty5500@verizon.net I'd really appreciate it. I'm really interested to see if there is any guidance on metal prep methods, materials, tools, etc...

By the way, has anyone seen the Turnbull video? Someone here recommended it a while back, but I have yet to order it.

Thanks,

Jerry
