The green Browning Kangaroo boots have always been good lightweight well wearing need no break-in boots. Right now comfortable out of the box and light. Good for warm climes.

I am not as a rule a fan of agressive lug soles. They only pick up muck if its damp/wet and that makes them heavier. I've been tempted to try spraying soles with PAM to slow that down, but never seem to remember to put a can in my kit to try.

A year back I bought a pair of cordura waterproof Redhead brand 'snake boots' at BassPro. They are insulated, have an easy to use full length YKK side zipper and are quite light for their height. One is absolutely perfect and the other chafs some tiny amount on my ankle. Were it not for the later one boot's fault they would be near perfect for slogging behind the dogs in the wet. I use them for that in the winter wet anyway, but it gets a bit old on the one ankle after a hard morning. Never a blister, just an irritant, if that makes sense. Its from how that one particular boot flexes.
