Kerryman, thanks for your input and the tone in which it was offered. I have done some research , using a paid service that does such things, and a brother and son #3 have done more, both using services of the Mormon Church in Utah, who store vast amounts of genealogy material. My data is all at least second hand. You may well be in a position to either know more than I do on the subject or at least have easier access to data on the subject. That's why I offer up gentle arguments. I am pretty comfortable with the English and German aspects of the research, and that oncerning my distant cuz, not that I expect to inherit the castle or anything.
You will not change my mind, however, about a preference for things Scot rather than Irish, including whiskey, and for a full set of good Scot pipes rather than the puny little sit down pipes often seen in Irish hands, er, maybe other body parts.
I still do not think a lot of Monty, and still think the notion of his possible involvment in Patton's untimely death as the war was ending at the very least has a degree of merit. Water over the dam now.
Otherwise, thanks again, you seem like a nice guy. I just don't understand how you can stop in raining in South California, I missed something there.

Chief S...I would question the use of "Puny Sit down" when talking of the Irish Pipes.I've been a trad Irish Fiddler for 30 years & have played often with Paddy Keenan & Davy Spillane & in hands like theirs they are by far & away a more intricate & precise set o sticks...capable of way more finesse than the highland....smaller yes,but not puny in the grand scheme of things....a question of taste I guess...body parts?..you don't blow the irish set:) kerryman...you into trad????? I lived in Doolin Co Clare for a few years many moons ago as a house fiddler in mc Ganns Pub & played with alot of good 'uns cheers franc

I once stated at work that I was 3/8 Kraut, 3/8 Irish & 1/4 Limey. One real intellegent chap wanted to know what was the "Other Half", & he wasn't speaking of my Wife.

Yes, like trad, enjoy but don't play. As a student I was involved in a folk club that provided copious pints and the odd fiver to such as Al O'Donnell, Donal Lunney, had Horslips play for nothing but the hire fee for their sound gear and although had many of the Ceolteoiri play, never managed better than 7 of the eight Chieftains (that gig cost £40, but that was before Chieftains 3!) Chief – the CLDS is good IF it is info from their members; however, one has to treat much of the info submitted to them as suspect. Sadly too many people connect links just to get a pedigree. Don’t get me going on the topic, and that of “Family Arms”!!! Responding/posting late because I was out with my Pedro today, to the detriment of a brace of pheasant. 60-80 knot gusts, so do not ask my cartridge ratio! K.

Well, evidently, Kerryman's mojo must have worn off a bit. We got a good dousing a day or two ago here in SoCal. Beautiful thing, it was.
