jOe, what is it you think you're missing out on with regard to oil properties? My guess is that the oil has a long non-gumming life. That may be an advantage in the lockwork of a gun if the modern synthetics won't go the needed distance. But I bet that the proper synthetics today will go the necessary distance/time.

I worked in the nuc biz for quite a while, albeit in the enrichment end, but I can't think of what they'd us oil on in a nuc. I asked my wife who worked specifically at Rocky Flats in the PU boxes (pun) as an engineer, she's not aware of what would use oils. But, what the hey, there a many different types of nucs.
