Gloria a Dios, it's raining again in the desert so I've got nothing else to do but move images-pics are up
BTW: found some neat pics to add to the 'Vintage Sporting Art' album http://www.picturetrail.com/gallery/view?p=999&gid=17710152

I have an A grade very similar with Photographic engraving.
Yes, I believe it has been color case hardened and refinished also.

What? According to the Davis ad in your link, NR Davis sold boxlocks with safety interceptors...is that correct? It's been 20 yrs since I've seen the innards of a NR Davis (clunker model)...I've seen some very attractive Davis shotguns and I've seen some clunkers by Davis...

I'll be paying closer attention to NR Davis in the future.

I don't know where the Assonet, Mass., N.R. Davis guns are. I believe every N.R. Davis I've ever seen has been from after the takeover by Warner Arms Corp. and the move to Norwich.

I have thought that my early Baker is also an A grade. Does that appear to be correct? The only marks on the flats and the water table are the serial number, 4xx.

Bob,
Id say yours is a A grade gun. B grade guns are the same but with twist barrels instead of damascus. The earlier the gun the more engraving. Here are some of my B grades #173B has the most engraving and it gets less as the numbers get higher. The pic with all the sideplates is lowest serial at the top and highest at the bottom. The bottom gun is a Folsom Paragon ejector.

Bob: VERY interesting damascus pattern! Could you please post ultra close up pics of the pattern? Unlike any up on the 'Baker and Lefever Damascus' album
