Does anyone use the little 1 1/2" 12 gauge shells from Aguila? I haven't been able to find these at my usual retailer, and his distributor also doesn't have any in stock. The 7 1/2's make a great training load, recoils like a .410, more speed than the Winchester Featherlights (Low Noise Low Recoil).
Thanks, Hap
PS I haven't been on this board for a while, it's good to be back! H

Sorry I didn't get back to this sooner, duty called. Check out http://www.aguilaammo.com/minishells.htm And, I was wrong, the shells (AFTER firing, of course) are 1 3/4" long. Full speed, 5/8 oz. 7 1/2, also made with a slug or buck shot. GREAT training loads, as they are about the same speed as 1 1/8 2 3/4 dram equiv. 12 ga. As I said above, my local retailer doesn't have any and their distributor (Acusport) also has none in stock. I have yet to hunt with these shells, but they break clays in an authoritive fashion. Good shooting, Hap

It's not apparent why they wouldn't be legal in CA. ????

Hi Chuck,
Just thought I'd ask- I'm a curious type... There are some strange laws in CA, ie. you can't buy T/C (S&W?!!??) Contender barrels in.45/.410... These mini-shells will allow extra ammo in a tubular magazine, such as the Winchester 1300 Defender- I figure if you have a 7 round magazine you could load 11 mini-shells; isn't there some kind of limit to ammo in mag's in CA? or does this apply only to detachable mags? By the way, how do you keep up with that one gun a month law? I'd be broke in a couple of years! (tongue firmly in cheek) Hap

They were designed to put more shells in a tubular magazine. I got some one year and they were a lot of fun. I have since been using the Rem 8.5 managed recoil 7/8 loads for the same purpose.
I do not remember seeing them at the shot show last year in Orlando but they are usually there when it is in Vegas. I believe that they are a Mexican company. They usually have a nice model at thier booth.

If you are purchasing these shells to use in a pump shotgun don't. They will not function in most pumps, feed problems. They work great in SS, SxS and O/U shotguns. There was a pump or designed to shoot them, one looked like a AK, weighed about 10 #s, another may have been a version of the Maverick.

The same company makes Colbri and Super Colbri .22 - a 20 grain slug with no powder. It's great for quiet practice where you don't want to disturb neighbors, and for people that are really muzzle blast shy. My mother, who has physical challenges and hasn't shot much really likes them.
