I don't understand John's question about "why Ansley didn't build many of these guns while he was in the business". They weren't designed yet at Fox while Ansley was there as John mentions. Many (actually most) guns that were used by high average shooters at the time were no more than tightly choked field configured guns. No vent ribs, very few beavertail forends, fewer stocks of high trap dimensions. Widespread use of guns with these features only came with the introduction of single barrel trap guns, most of which included all of these features from the beginning. My first year Parker single trap was stocked at 14 3/4" pull and drops of 1 1/4" and 1 7/8", very modern dimensions. Double guns with similar dimensions were very scarce in 1917.
