Ho, ho, ho !!!! The local lumberyard delivered a couple of guns, including an RBL *snore* with a S/N very close to 1600. I thought the wood was worth sharing. The other side of the stock is just as nice. I also picked up a nearly perfect condition 1970ish Miroku Superior Trap O/U with 32" barrels, standard width rib, monte carlo, and the ejector/extractor selectors. I know it's not a Superposed, but I like it a lot better than the Gr I 32" B'ways I was looking at over the last year - I want a fixed choke 32" clays shooter within my budget. The Miroku fits me better than the SPs and to my eyes is a bit sleeker looking. The ejector/extractor thingy is pretty neat. When I get the 'squished from standing storage' buttpad replaced with a nice white line trap pad, I'll post some pics... ... with a puke-bucket warning for the traditionalist majority. This gun will get the chokes opened and hopefully become my primary target gun.

That's a nice piece of black crotch wood, no doubt. What grade do they call it?

Nice. Very nice.
Santa is one smart dude. Might be getting smarter as he ages...
With my son in the Peace Corp and me handling the outlandish monthly---month after relentless month---sallie mae payments, the only packages in Santa's Sleigh this year are destined for dear old dad and the girlfriend... and she is getting an antique stone pig foot warmer because she complains most about cold feet. I complain the most that I don't have the right double barrel 12 gauge... soooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.

Yeti, Merry C'mas To You!
The RBL's wood is veddy nice, but the checkering looks as if it goes too far back. Is it just the angle of the photo?

I don't think it would have hurt Connecticut Shotgun Manuf' to have put a couple more points in the checkering pattern. That pattern is just so severe. I would have to send the gun out to have some adjustments to the checkering which shouldn't be necessary at the price point of the gun. It certainly is nice wood.

Jerry, I think the laser checkering machine/process may not be compatible with finer line checkering.

Chuck I thing Jerry means something like a 4 point patter instead of a 2 point. Counting the outside points not the lines per inch.

That was their exhibition grade black. Jerry, I agree on the design of the checkering panel - the GD'est thing about the laser cut checkering (the same goes for my Rizz) is the panels aren't real point patterns, they're fill-ins. The outline of the checkered panel has nothing to do with the lines of the diamonds.
Chuck, the enforcement arm of American Society for Protection of White Line Pads has been notified. That pad was screaming and you just kept tightening the clamp. I also told them about your Bad Newz Pads business and the Pad Fights. Party's over, dude.

Chuck, on that stock graft is that top chunk that the clamp is bearing on ( to get the compression vector straight) still part of the main graft or an added piece?
