Haven't we seen another one of these before:

http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/conten...0_wc_08l_fw.jpg

Doesn't someone else here have a Scott 10g Premier with that shield on its triggergaurd? I wonder what it means.

And check out the 3 10g Scott Premiers Cabelas just added to their listings. Kind of interesting to look a them compare.

Is this not a Maltese Cross. If so, it could be thought of as a heldaric symbol.
If original, it seems to assure that these were bespoke guns.
Whatever, it is very handsome on the guards.
Best,
John

Not easily viewable, but the only picture I have easy access to.

See 'Maltese Cross' on rib. This is a lower grade Scott.

Lots of cross variants illustrated here
http://www.seiyaku.com/customs/crosses/index-all.html

I've been looking through British Military award crosses and haven't found it.

It is very similar to Catholic baptismal and votive candle crosses

There is also a model with a 'Cross of David' in gold. I'll try to get a better picture of mine when I get caught up.

It's not mentioned in the description, and it could very well be just my imagination, but the W&C Scott Premier 10ga. on Cabela's site (Item 908607)appears to my old eyes to have a crack running through the wrist on both sides. On the left side the crack is first noticeable above the "1" in the serial number (31254) and runs all the way up to rear lock screw. On the right side the crack appears to zig-zag up from the "3". Since the checkering obscures the line I could be mistaken, but I'd definitely ask the question if I were calling on this particular gun. Sure looks nice otherwise.

I wonder if they were part of a batch of guns made for a club, buyer, retailer, etc?

Thanks for the pics.

I've seen different type crosses as well as the one on my gun on many Scotts. I never took the time to copy them down as well as the serial numbers so can not form any conclusion. Looks like an interesting research project for someone.
