Considering purchasing a Beretta 471, 20ga with a 28" barrel and choke tubes. Any comments out there on this particular shotgun. Have not lined up one as of yet but my interest would be brand new or if used, no marks on wood or metal. What should expect to pay of one of these??

I can't tell you much about the 471. What I can tell you about is the 626E, which I think the 471 basically is a new model. I have a 20 ga. 26" barrels, imp.cyl/mod 3" chambers, single selective trigger, auto ejectors and a straight stock. If I had it to do over, 28" barrels, imp.cyl./full, double triggers, with the straight stock, but I would want the trigger guard to go the full length. Mine has a regular short trigger guard. Nice handling gun 6 lbs. 3 ozs.

I have handled them and found a wide range in weight to be present. Other than weight differences I find them a very nice modern assembly line shotgun. I find the older 409,424, and the 625/626 to have more appeal to me. I would also be looking for a 28" barrel. I have a 625 in 20ga and 26" barrels that I really have to concentrate on for follow through. It is a little too light for me. The new 471 is pretty spendy. Take a look at the auction sights as well as the board advertisers and you will see a wide range from low $2400 to high at $3700.
Good luck,
Ron

I agree with these gentlemen. I have never used one but I do have two 686s and they funtion very well as trap guns. (One has a set of O/U barrels) They really get extended use. I have a buddy who collected them (Beretta SXSs) over the years and he loves them. If it fits and handles well, you shouldn't have any problems with it. I don't know how close you are to Jaqua's in Findley, Ohio, (some in Michigan travel down there on occasion) but they usually have Berettas in stock, so you might want to check on them if you can't find any in your area. Good luck.

You might consider a Galazan RBL in 20g. for about the same price range.

The 471's I see go for around $3500. I think there are two models. This is the more expensive one. Case color is supposed to be a comtemporary finish, not real case colors. No engraving I recall but the ones I saw had gold wash birds on them.

This is my Beretta 626E. It looks like the 471, but I think it is made nicer. The price back in the 80's was dealer's cost $945, sold for $1200.
The checkering is 22 lpi, and it does have a semi-beavertail fore end. I would also do away with the goldish colored trigger, I think it makes it look cheap.
