Duely noted.
I did recently find this clue -
Interesting safeconstructions
Christoph Funk’s adress was Göthaer Strasse 18, Suhl. That piece of information is interesting, because Thieme & Schlegelmilch Nimrod Gewehrfabrik, was located on the same adress. The owner was Alfred Funk, who had taken over the company from Ernst Schlegelmilch at around 1930.
Thieme & Schlegelmilch became famous for developing the Anson & Deeley action system from Great Britain This system had a better spring-geometry with the result of reducing the trigger pull of approximately 1.5 kg against at least 2 kg as normal. The pull-off weight in both A&D and Blitz-systems were then and to day a problem for drilling-makers. As a security measure you have to rely on a very high pull-off weight to avoid, that the first shot releases the second and a heavy og inexact pull-off is the result. Most drillings has a hair-trigger for more accurately shooting the rifle barrel.
Thieme & Schlegelmilch was in other words an innovative gunmaker and so was Christoph Funk, who invented one of the most interesting safeconstructions seen on a drilling. The safe blocks all three tumblers and can be found on Funk’s ”Jubiläums-Drilling 1835 – 1935”. The bullet-barrel is secure until the selector between the right shot barrel and the rifle barrel is activated and this feature also prevents from doubling. Fredrik Franzén – Scandinaviens expert on weapons for hunting, writes in his book ”Fina gamla vapen” e.g. ”Fine old weapons”: ”This drilling could presumably be dropped on the floor without any risk of an accidental discharge”.
