I too believe it is the hand and not the gun that causes the problem. If you don't want to use the rubber bumper approach, there is one more permanent correction you could consider which involves having the offending digit surgically removed. Never the less, I've never heard of an I.J. owner resorting to such drastic measures, only Parker affectionados, because as we all know Parker owners are a breed apart. Just a thought.
