I too believe it is the hand and not the gun that causes the problem. If you don't want to use the rubber bumper approach, there is one more permanent correction you could consider which involves having the offending digit surgically removed. Never the less, I've never heard of an I.J. owner resorting to such drastic measures, only Parker affectionados, because as we all know Parker owners are a breed apart. Just a thought.

Hey Ed, didn't know you were on here. I'm thinking of a Rockford raid a few days after Christmas. You going to be around?
We can have a drink of whiskey and you can show me that new book you bought on eBay. It was rough, but I'd never even seen a copy before.

I had the problem when I first started shooting 2 trigger guns. I became more concious of hand position and the problem went away.
My wife, Cherie had the problem arise after taking off from shooting for a while. She had never had the problem before and was shooting the same gun.
I bought her one of the Galazan gadgets and she used it for a while. She then took it off an doesn't need it anymore. I think it is simply a matter of hand position.

I have a Beretta 20 ga that really beats my finger up. It's the only shotgun I have that does it. It will take the skin off in a morning of quail shooting. I got one of Galazan's gadgets and it helped. It's a pistol grip S57EL.

I've had two Iver Johnson guns that did that. I never had a problam with any other gun. A friend of mine bought an Iver Johnson Hercules and the same thing happened to him. Another friend shoots a 12 gauge Iver Johnson and he has the same problem. It may be the way that these guns are stocked. Pete

I agree with Montana. This also happened to me with a 16 ga L.C. Smith, double trigger. Hunting with gloves on, a little thicker leather, but still flexible enought to shoot. A couple of times I felt my middle finger being hit by the trigger guard, it does feel smart. Couldn't figure out why. Reason was, the gloves were a little too thick, and my finger was barely reaching the front trigger properly. Put on a thinner pair and it seems to have helped.

I have small hands and short index finger and the way i prevent it is to grip stock tightly and not let my finger come in contact with rear of trigger guard. Bobby

The other reason it happens is not having the butt placed firmly against your shoulder. If you have the butt planted well, your hand won't be doing much anyway. Like most of shooting, it's all boils down to operator error.

Lots of insight on things to look for. I'll check his fit. I suspect the LOP is about right. Grip tension may be a player. But, he does have short fat fingers which may be causing him to "choke up" a bit more than most on the grip also. I'll also suggest a tighter shoulder pocket mount. I'll check some dimensions of the trigger guard relationship to the triggers. There's an answer somewhere. I'll get the rubber bumper he asked for also.

When I was learning to shoot double triggers, I had the same problem. I used a piece of mini-cell foam (commonly used in boating , a fairly stiff, gray foam, doesn't soak up water) and attached it with a small zip tie. This worked well to keep my finger from getting bashed till I learned how to shoot a straight stock better. One older friend of mine had the same problem after some health issues. He had a gunsmith extend the trigger guard so that it was at a much lower angle and basically met the finger where it grasped the stock. Didn't cost a whole lot as I remember and seemed to work well. Good luck.
