If you guys are using the quick reply at the bottom of the page you may need to use the New Reply at the top left hand corner of the page. The smilies are there along with the Enter an image button which is the third from the left just above the text area.

Mine has 4s all over the water table and Brit proofs but you knew that. Metric markings on the barrels also which I guess may have obliterated the choke marks. I have been assured that the swamped rib barrels are original. Walt Snyder says for weight savings. Redbirds best thing on the tube tonite.

I believe the "4's" in your picture designate the original chokes of Full and Full. For clarification, I said that Walt told me they were for weight savings. If that is incorrect, I just want to make sure the misinformation is credited to the correct person.

Doubt if there's a problem with attribution as I believe Walt told me pretty much the same, but I could be wrong. At any rate, either you're correct and I'm correct about what he said she said, or we're not. I suspect the weight savings aspect itself is correct because there is a seller on an auction site bragging about his conventionally-ribbed Flues 4e 16 gauge weighing a "light" 7lb. The 12 I have with the swamped rib weighs the same.

Jack, The 4's toward the front of your bbl flats, left side of your picture, are the chokes, Full/Full. The 4 at the rear of your bbl flats is the grade. The only marking on the bbl flats of mine is the ser no, and appears to be the only mark that was ever there. Mine also has the "Nitro Powder Approved" stamp on the lug, and like your's it's only about 3/4 there. Don't really know why mine doesn't have the chokes and grade stamped on the flats, it does have the grade on the fore-end iron. Curtis

Quite right Curtis. Said water table but obviously foto is of barrel flats and lug. Only markings on w/t are serial and Birmingham reproof mark each side of slot.

That's a beautiful Lewis, Casey. Damascus Flues and also Lewis on GB right now. IMO, certainly nothing naive about the engraving on either.
