Mike, the Kornbrath brochure doesn't do justice to the guns. That single shot is really beyond belief. Thanks, Daryl

Daryl, Bob, MP,
I have absolutely nothing to contribute to this thread, but wanted to let you know I appreciate the posts - great stuff! I'm guessing I'm not the only lurker on this thread who feels this way.

Dave, I don't have any more "handy" photos, but this one shows more of the right side. The gun may have been made before Baker cataloged the De Luxe Grade, but it is certainly De Luxe quality. Dave this photo shows a bit better detail of the right side, including initials.

Sorry for the bad photo, While we are examining engraving, anyone know who engraved my Ballard 6 1/2?? [/img] I believe that unless it was a special order the Marlin inhouse engraves did the work. I have both the Ballard book by Dutcher and the Marlin book by Brophy and later in the day I'll check them.

Not all Ballard engraving is the same, some is much better IMO and I suspect that these were special order. I don’t know if they were done by an independent or their in-house engravers taking more time. The Ulrichs engraved for Marlin but I’m not knowledgeable enough to tell which ones they did. Top rifle is normal Ballard engraving bottom is not.
