If you want classic British 'browned' barrels, you'll probably need to send them to Kearcher or Merrington.
Dewey Vicknair does a wonderful job on American maker's 'black and white'

Anybody know what would be appropriate for a pre-1892 Belgian hammer Damascus? Black, brown, or something like Kearcher's black/white which often comes out kind of brown? Thanks.

Might want to look at Casey C. of Newnan, Ga. Several years ago he posted pictures of barrels he browned- they were beautiful. Contact him with a post addressed to him.

Thiss is a near unfired Belgium (SJ&D) from the 1890's. The Barrels were definitely browned and not blackened as the Americans were.

Thanks Cary

Here is some of the work I done on my barrels.
99% of the work I do is rust-blueing and only sometimes Damascus Finish.

Thanks to everyone for the replies. Casey, your work looks real good.

The gun I have needing done is an English BPE double rifle I just purchased.
Currently, the barrels are blued. I had a feeling that this gun was damascus, and confirmed it last evening by removing the blueing under the forend. It was a nice Christmas surprise...
It will need to be browned, not blacked.
Thanks again.
