Marc, I would feel safe shooting low pressure steel reloads in my A&N #1, which is choked 005/015. Would not in the #2 gun . . . L barrel is .025. But if we start seeing broader spectrum lead bans, I'm quite confident that Bismuth will be available again, and I'd sooner go with that.

Ted, did you just polish up your crystal ball there, or what? If along with lead shot MN were to ban lead sinkers (makes about as much sense, I think) and maybe lead bullets as well, I'm thinking those Cheddarheads might just smile and collect money for a whole lot of nonresident small game hunting, deer hunting, and fishing licenses. Although SD has been nontox only on state-owned areas for quite some time, they have not expanded that to include Walk-In Areas, nor private lands only open if you receive permission. Nor have many of the states surrounding SD jumped on even the "all state-owned areas" bandwagon. ND has not, for example, nor has IA. In fact, I don't see any nontox bandwagon at all rolling down the road.

Thorny, if what you do violates federal and state game laws, it's irrelevant whether you own the land. That's because while you own the land, you don't own the game. That's what makes us different from Europe.

Larry, more than that makes us different from Europe...but, there is the list I shoot - altho' that might not be in the correct order of events.
I offer the game a safe place for months and months on end.
Even feed sacks of cracked corn in January and Febuary.
I think of them as my game, as do most landowners.

An old black man I asked to hunt years ago told me that he only over saw the land he lived on and didn't own the game or the land...and that I was welcome to hunt.

Even as old an uneducated as he was he knew that he didn't own the game.

Lowell, This thread has been copied and sent to all the authorities who enforce game and environmental laws. Be careful who comes to the gate.
