Drew & Leighton: Thanks for the pics of the Belgian Damascus barrels. Looks like I'm going with the brown.
Battle: Kearcher lists black/white on his web site (at least he used to) at a slightly higher price than brown, but the B/W barrels I have seen in person from his shop had a definite brown cast to them. I have discussed this with guys who have seen a lot of his work, and their opinion is that all of his Damascus comes out sort of brown, but you get to pick the shade. Not surprising considering his affinity for Brit guns.
