I am in a great amount of pain right now. I found another, I think, beautiful shotgun. But didn't get it. It was a really nice LC Smith 20 ga. I wanted it so badly, alas my parents would have killed me if I purchased it. Here it is, what say you?:   Sold for $675. How badly did I miss out?

Ah, ha! The second picture just "arrived"??? There is the standard lock crack and the stock does appear to be a tad oil soaked, so a new stock might be needed. CC is not obvious, another downer. I'd like to have had it but it would take a bit of TLC in my judgement. Best, DR. BILL

I feel your pain. Still I think that was a good price. 20 ga. with Hunter Single Trigger, looks like shorter barrels, hope they weren't cut. Does it have ejectors? I would guess yes.
Plus it looks like it is a Regular weight. I would definitly say it was a good price, no a great price if the barrels weren't cut.
Like Dr. Bill said, maybe an oil issue, but that can be fixed.
From looking at the pictures, in Brophy's book it states that the #2 had ducks and quial in a circle on the lockplates. This could be a #1.

I would have bought that one. I started a thread earlier about a Ithaca NID field grade. They are asking 795.00, sounds okay but its not a graded gun.
Is the gun still available?

It appears to be an engraving variation of a Grade (not Quality) 2 gun. It can't be a Syracuse gun if it's a 20---- and-- $675 was probably a steal!

I was thinking I had seen it stated right here on this board, that all 20ga Smiths were made on the FW frame. Is this possibly a re-barrel or is it a "rare" early 20ga.

Miller, I'm fairly sure that they did make Regular weight 20 ga., but they are rare. The Feather weight came out in 1907 and so did the 20 ga. in most grades, a few started in 1908.
It will be interesting to see in the new book what is stated, and possibly put a lot of speculation to rest.
