Just a quick note, this show seemed bigger than last year with more quality pieces. The two that stood out in my mind were both G&H custom rifles, one a .250-3000 on a Mauser Kurz action, Kornbrath engraved and Adolph stocked, looked unfired.

The other was a G&H custom on a Remington M30, truly some beautiful work.

The high point of the show was the folks I met, had a nice chat with Geoffroy Gournet and spent quite a bit of time learning about custom rifles from eightbore, thanks very much Bill.

Mr. Gournet a.k.a darnation is a card, isn't he. I was beside his display at the 2007 Vintagers.

Kind Regards,

I didn't bother to pick one up but they looked about as good as the 20's did when they were introduced at the same show 2 years ago. I have to say the engraving doesn't show well with the case coloring and I thought the beavertail forend looked big on those barrels.

Disclaimer - I'm not buying one so I didn't look too closely.

I had a great time. I ran into StormsGSP and KDRoss. I also saw Foxist and Eightbore, plus some other friends.

Lots of nice guns - a gamescene engraved Lang & Hussey, some nice double rifles, including two fantastic H&H Royals - a .577 and a 500/460 (I think that's right), lots of Foxes & Parkers.

There were a bunch of nice Lefever - a 90% DS 20g, an old 10g Optimus, a 16 CE, a 12g EE with an original Monte Carlo stock, plus some others. No sign of my dream gun though -a 16g EE with a straight grip.

There were also a bunch of nice bolt rifles and some cool Winchesters.

I also saw this Purdey:

It looks like some kind of Adams-patent action - but with a top lever rather than a Daw lever. Does anyone have any idea what it could be? It was a non ejector.

It was fun. Long drive, but worth it! Nice to finally put a name to a face in Mr. Murphy, and meet some other guys, nice guys all around. Got to talk to Mr. Gournet, great guy! Loved seeing his work, just wish I could afford it. Some beautiful pieces. One guy had 4 Dalys, sold one before I got there, the other three weren't Lindners. A fun time for sure. Almost bought a double rifle, but they realized it was 120,000 and they didn't accept kidneys for trades.

Next time I am going to wear a name tag. Would love to meet some of you guys. I was hanging around with Lou at Galazans for a while.

New 28g. RBL's were nice.

Did any of you see the two LC Smith Hammer guns at Elmira Arms in the back right corner of the room?

I was there from 9-1:30 and kept a lookout for an orange Red Sox cap but no luck, maybe next year..

Didn't see the LC Smith hammer guns but I can tell you that my conversation with eightbore was interupted by a Parker hammergun, Bill what did it turn out to be?

I handled the 10ga LC hammer gun Syracuse vintage, very nice piece lots of condition. Other 10ga LC's at the show. A grade 2 Syracuse gun refinished wood but nice, a beat Fulton era grade 2 steel barrels bad bores and sanded stock. Nice grade G (I think) 10ga Lefever 28" damacus, nice color and condition (I don't believe it was cut). Fun show, plan to attend next year.
