FWIW if you're thinking about refinishing the gun, soaking the stock and forend in acetone for 18-24 hours will not only remove all the old finish but should remove that black oil staining around the frame as well. Use a disposable aluminum turkey pan, about a gallon of acetone, and weigh the stock down to keep it submerged. Cover with tin foil to help control evaporation. I've stripped and de-oiled eight stocks this way and have always been very pleased with the results.
