I've never seen any data on the pressure these cartridges create. Their velocity is a bit higher than average for 12 gauge. I beleive it's over 1300fps. I've shot them in my Westley Richards, but the gun has modern steel barrels.

If you want to be certain you are shooting low pressure loads, then get Polywad or RST cartridges.

The lightweight WR loads are easy on the shoulder, the higher payload ones - in 12 bore at least - are a bit stiff. I believe they are made by Lyalvale for them. I like them and use them in my 12 and esp 16 bores.

I think this recent low pressure stuff is overdone. If the load is the proper length and within the proof pressure of the gun and the gun is sound, there is no mechanical issue. I'd be more concerned about how the load patterns for the quarry and whether or not your gun fits you. If it does it will be comfortable to shoot.

They are indeed made by Lyalvale. And I think anything 2 1/2"/65MM/67MM will be within CIP standards. Although as snowleopard pointed out, the heavier field loads do deliver a bit of a kick.

Gee, I'm forced to buy that sub CIP spec Winchester extra light target loads from Walmart, but wish I could afford those wonderful and cute short English loads.
