Recently, I saw an Armas Grulla in 16 ga. was very impressed with the workmanship of the gun. The gun was priced at $ 2800 is this the going price and are there places to go to find information about this gunmaker.

Thank you

Hi, HM has hit it on the nose as far as sources go. I can tell you that Grulla is a very fine maker, highly regarded in the spanish gun trade. As to pricem hard to say without seeing it. Condition and features will influence price to a large degree. As you may or may not know all Grullas are sidelocks and do come in various grades and features. If the gun is in mint or near mint shape and being a 16ga the price is a good one.

You can also try over at http://www.shotgunworld.com and look under the I love my Spanish Guns sub forum - good info there.

You may also want to go to some of the gun selling sites (Gunbroker, Gunsamerica etc) and check out and compare prices to the gun your looking at and go from there.

All the best and Good Luck!

Greg

I just bought a Grulla 216 and the left barrel shoots 5" low. I called GSI and they said that it is, "Within Spec". I doubt that they are of supeior quality.

You might try their website: http://www.grullaarmas.com/es/

I bought a 216 rounded body a couple of years ago and have been delighted. I decided on Grulla after going to the shop of each of the gunmakers in Eibar and Elgoeibar (sp?) and found Grulla's to be the best handling. Arrizabalaga is best for fit and finish, but their guns are heavily built, for driven shooting, and so are not a good match for U.S. "rough" shooting.

I used a patterning board on my gun and found both barrels precisely regulated to shoot to point of aim. Surprised GSI considers 5" low to be "within spec." Suggest you communicate directly with Grulla via their website and relay this story. I found them to be proud of the quality of their guns and willing to stand behind their product.

Thank you Mr. Craig for the suggestion. I have the gun @ GSI now for evaluation.

About Grulla.
I engraved a Grulla sidelock this year. A nice traditional gun, carbon steel, handmade, no CNC .
It was imported by http://www.fieldsportltd.com/
Take a look on their website.

Kind of hard to tell if the price is right without knowing more about the gun (model, condition). That said, $2800 is cheap for a Grulla (unless something is wrong with it). I recently bought a 3 year old 12 ga. model 216 set up as a Pigeon/Wildfowl gun that I used for ducks (including shooting 2 3/4" steel loads through with no problems) this season. I paid $5000 and although used, it is in like-new condition. I have one issue with an ejector sear on one barrel that sometimes uncocks when I fire it, but the only result is that it becomes an extractor for that shot. Someday I'll get it fixed. Fit and finish are as good as any gun I've seen and certainly as good as other Spanish Doubles.
