Beautiful. When I didn't know Mr. Opacak was an engraver until a recent thread. I was hoping to see some of his work and I am very impressed. First class job. Thanks for sharing!

Mark, I don't recognize the name but there are a couple of students of competition shooters of the era over on the PGCA site. You could throw the name out over there. To be honest, my research material is not very organized but I will keep poking.

Very nice!!! That sort of report, craftsmanship, and appreciation thereof illustrate the best of the people, processes, cultural artifacts that make this BBS #1, in my list.
The pictures of the work in progress are wonderful. I never have thot of using marine plywood in those inherently weak spots, but it'sa on my list now. Thanks for sharing.

btw, I just took another look at the work, and like the look of the stock finish. As a wood finisher by trade, I'm always interested in info about a good job. For a deep sheen, I generally use a base/sealer combo of thin oil/varnish, then a French polish method to fill and level, and finish off with a little -- very little, traditional style oil mix, if it is to be a 'soft' look.
If you like, would you mind discussing y'r finish process/material? Not a burning necessity, but just curious.

Beautiful work and kudos to you for having it done.
I suspect somewhere someone is unbubbafying a gun I sold last year. It was a 12ga VHE on a 1-1/2 frame that had the chokes cut out of it (cut back to 28") a badly installed vent pad and best of all, a small dollop of silver solder on either side of the dolls head to make a rudimentery rear sight. Obviously set up as a slug gun.
The gentleman I sold it to was very happy with it and the restoration project ahead of him. Good to see one done right.

Where is Orillia? I do a lot of duck shooting in Ontario during the season but have never heard of that town. Yeah, I could check a map but it's easier to ask. *wink*
