They need to scrap the terrible "American Rifleman" rag they send me each month that is not even a shadow of what it was in the 60's and get rid of all the crap about pistols, military semi-auto rifles, and other junk that most of us sportsmen are not interested in reading about. The money spent to print that rag is better spent in fighting the ban lead legislators. My opinion and I'll bet I have a lot of company. Chopperlump

A lead ban would impact all shooters. As Benjamin Franklin said, "We must all hang together, or most assuredly we shall all hang separately." Just because we are not interested in something, doesn't mean it is crap.

This is absolutely a back door means of shutting down hunting. The cost of ammo made from other materials will be prohibitive to many folks who will no longer be able to afford ammo to hunt. Ironically this will have a negative impact on the taxes collected to support wildlife through Pittman-Robinson as well as hunting licenses. The next move will be the ban of lead fishing weights. I agree the NRA, Safari Club and the NSSF need to get involved.

lets face it...lead will be banned from shooting/fishing in the near future...how can the NRA argue that throwing lead around is not harmful to the enviroment....when to one degree or another it is......it will be steel shot in modern shotguns and Tung M, Tung P, or Bismuth for older guns....copper solids in rifles and handguns....

I agree, lead on wma`s will be phased out,but lead on target ranges will be controlled ,via mandatory remediation of the land/backstop,provided there is no creeks or runoff issues. Indoor pistol/rifle ranges wont be affected. Problem for alot of ranges is they are there because it is unbuildable,is flood prone, or has some tributary nearby. But YES,NRA needs to flex muscle in this area bigtime.

Funny, I thought lead CAME from the enviroment.
Fellas, IT IS AN ELEMENT-it occurs almost everywhere, naturally. When blended with antimony, thoses pellets are far more stable than elemental lead. Best, Ted

Bravo Ted! Sometimes we fail to see the forest for the trees. You have made the strongest case I've heard against the anti-s. Chopperlump, an admirer of your brilliant observation.

chopperlump, I agree that the Rifleman has gone down hill. We have to be careful about whose ox we gore. We need the support of those who are into the so called blackguns, handguns and had not think they don't have a say. I would almost believe that one would find shotgunners in the minority in the firearms world. I realize that the shotgun shooting games have a huge following, but the average gun owner out there is not nessasarily into those things. I personally am not into the black guns, but do like 1911s and SA revolvers. The majority of the NRA members I know are either rifle or pistol shooters.

Save the Condors, or I'll see you in The Hague! You are now citizens of the world.
