Chopper, I agree with you about the AR. But, it goes deeper than that. All the pistols and military weapons that seem to be the main focus of the NRA with shotguns, black powder and other shooting sports pushed off the page is hurting more than the lead issue. Unfortunately, the NRA is seen by the majority of Americans as a radical fringe organization. From that post, often an organization can do as much to harm its own interests as to help them. The group itself, and its agenda, become a target.

Much as I personally believe the 2nd Amendment was written intending for the individual citizens to keep and bare military arms, it is a hard sell to Americans who are sick of the highest gun violence rates in the civilized world.

Alas, taking a measured approach has never been in the cards for the NRA. I am not so sure if the NRA "gets involved in the lead ban issue" it will help.

I don't like what I just said, but I think it is true.
