Those little things pop up when the bbls fall. I guess that when the gun is closed, the bbls push them down and push the cocking rods out of the way. I've seen these before on a H&H .577 Royal DR, but never on a shotgun. Has anyone else ever seen them on a shotgun? I know I have some more info on this patent, but I haven't found it yet.
