I prefer 6" Schedule 80 PVC pipe. Just for grins I usually write Part # 765H349 or some such somewhere on the tube with a big Sharpie. You can also buy caps or just make some. About as bulletproof as it comes in my opinion, and does not scream gun to anyone who sees it. Virginian, how do you seal the end caps? Must weigh more than the gun?
My problem lies in reconciling my gross habits with my net income. - Errol Flynn

For one way delivery the Midway boxes are expensive but would still be the least expensive way to ship safely. so far the only reaonable alternative would be to buy cardboard boxes and use up my packing material I have been saving. If I have to buy packing material also, the Midway stuff starts to look better. Midway always seems to be expensive though.
So many guns, so little time!

Builder I ship all of the guns that I sell in Gun Guard cases. $8 delievered to my door. I havn't bought any in a year or so, I buy 40 at a time. I think I got them from Bass Pro. Mike, I can't find a case like that at Bass Pro. Could you give a site? Regards, Jake

Rob, why not just use the cleaner and the pvc glue and seal it closed? That way it would never come open in shipment. Sure, they would have to cut the end off when it got there but what the heck?

i don't know that it'd hurt anything but i wouldn't want the fumes off pvc glue/primer around a gun. strapping tape holds end caps on fine. run it around the ends longitudinally, then another piece circumferentially around the ends over the lengthwise strips. they won't come off till someone wants them to.

One other way that I have seen done is ship it in the $45 hard case and refund the extra money when it is returned.I have done that a couple times with guns shipped to me.Probably won't work big volume dealers but for collectors its good way to insure protection of the gun and less waste.

Virginian, Schedule 40 perhaps? 6" Sched 80 PVC weighs about 6 pounds/ft, the pipe costs about $100/ft and end caps cost over $100 each, and that was >15 years ago.
To all, Remember - if Hillary wins, there will be a run on 6" pipe and endcaps. Sched 40 holds up very well when buried and supported on all sides.
