Daryl do I have to break the action down to its smallest parts or can I put it in the ultrasonic cleaner as an assembly (less wood parts of course)?
I hate to appear dense but since apparently I am do the parts go in with the granular Spic and Span dry? That is don't add water?
Thanks!
Mike

Wow - nice gun. I've been looking for one like it, but with a straight grip.
It's interesting to see how the EEs evolved over time, too. I have one from about 1906 and it's quite a bit different in some subtle ways.
Do you happen to know how long the choke cones are on it? And do the bbls kiss at the muzzle end, or is there a hair of lead between them?
I've been looking at a lot of Lefever bbls lately and it seems like they vary a bit on this. I've seen some with 6" choke cones and a baby-fine hair of lead between the bbls (there were on a pr. of early Damascus bbls) and others with about 4" of cones and the bbls kiss (on a 1902 EE and a 1906 EE, boths with Krupp bbls).
Thanks
OWD

Thanks OWD and the choke cones are 2-3/4". The muzzles have a flat spot filed on one side of each barrel and the flat spots just touch.
I was in the FtWorth Cabelas last week and looked at about fifteen Syracuse Lefevers. Some had obviously been cut, others had the fine hair gap you are talking about, and some had a flat filed like mine with lots of contact. There were some that didn't kiss that I concluded had not been cut but I could be wrong. I also found a wide varation in choke cone length on the guns with similar patterns to your descriptions. What do you get when you cross an elephant with a rhino? Elephino!
Best,
Mike

Mike you need not take the receiver completely apart for the ultrasonic. Do make sure some pieces of grease or whatever, loosened by the ultrasonic , do not stay inside of the partial receiver. I scrub all with a toothbrush after the ultrasonic to make sure it is clean.

Thanks Daryl.
Does the granular Spic N Span have water added to it when it is put in the cleaner?
Thanks again!
Mike

Yes, Mike, it does take water. I put four or five tablespoons of Spic and Span in and fill the compartment with water. Then I turn the timer to 60 minutes or so, and if it needs more, I do it again. The water may heat up some, but I think that makes the cleaner work better.
