Ye Olde Salopian's Wood Reviver
50 Parts Raw Linseed oil, 48 Parts Malt Vinegar, 2 Parts Methylated Spirits
Another recipe tried and tested is,
Methylated Spirits,Turpentine,Linseed Oil in equal parts to make 1 pint and add 45ml of ammonia. This is a strong cleanser/reviver and will remove crud and not harm anything.

Is there another name for methylated spirits? I presume that mineral spirits might be the same thing or close to it.

According to the label on the bottle in my hand as I type this, Methylated Spirits is 96% v/v ethanol. Elsewhere on the label, it specifies "Ethanol Solution", suggesting that most of the remaining 4% is probably water.

I'd guess that "Methylated" implies that the 4% is methanol. This would mean that Methylated Spirits is the UK name for the common "Denatured Alcohol" sold in the US, which would make lots of sense. Methanol is highly poisonous, quickly causing blindness, hence a small amount of it renders ethanol undrinkable. Also, I've read that denatured alcohol (ethanol) contains around 5% methanol, or a bit less.

Marrakai - missed rounding this buoy the first time so this Kramer product is new to me. I did go to search here, but the only reference to Kramer was your present one.
Briefly, how did the product work on gun stocks? When one goes to their site and reads the instructions, the Antique Improver sounds very workable for stock cleaning and beautification.
They make another product called their "Best Blemish Clarifyer" that is used for more severe cleaning and heavy grime and ground in grease and oil. They purport this product works well while not removing the original finish. - - You read this and wonder if you've found the secret path to removing at least some stock-head oil stains, etc.
Would appreciate your comments - - how's your goose hunting shaping up for the coming season?
