Is there any trick to it? pulled the butt plate, the 2 screws in the tang and undid the stock bolt...the tang grabs the stock... how to get the stock loose? remove trigger guard? if so, how?
TIA... need to put a cut stock on for my little son (short 15 yr old)

Yes, the triggerguard has to com off. The barrels come off as well. Then look down in the reciever where the barrels fit, and depress the bar in the bottom while pushing the toplever to the right, hold the bar down and let the toplever move to the center. Then back the drawbolt in the back of the stock off a couple turns. Give the screwdriver, that you have in the stock to reach the drawbolt, a sharp whack with your palm or a mallet. You should see the reciever move forward a fraction of an inch. Loosen the drawbolt another turn and whack it with your palm and move the reciever a bit further. Finally, back the drawbolt completely out and pull the reciever off the stock.

To pull the triggerguard, take the screws out of the tang of the triggerguard, grab the guard and lift the tang out of the stock, rotate the guard counterclockwise 90 degrees and lift it out of the reciever.

When you remove the trigger guard be sure to note the little spring in the trigger, don't lose it and be sure to press it down with something when you go to reassemble it.

After a tough lesson I started using a 28 gauge shell on the end of my long screw driver to center the blade and prevent it from lodging between the wood and the screw head. Just drive the screw driver through the shell head with a hammer and leave an 1/8 inch of the blade protruding. NO embarassing split stocks!
