Heres my Wesson being converted slowly to a "Henry", a few of the modifications so far are cut off of the radius in lower front of the action, reducing the size of the button release on the lever, drastic reshaping of the hammer and a radius added to the front receiver ring. A few more changes to come before its "Mine", maybe a stalking safety.

Lookin' Good! I like the shape of the hammer head a lot. Very Henryish.

I'll show you mine if you show me yours...

Are you stocking it yourself Glenn? I'm going to thread up a barrel in the next week or so. I'm thinking of stocking it from scratch....boy that will take a little while. Maybe I'll have a pattern made. Either way, I have a killer piece of dense english for it. Then the real fun starts as it comes together. Heres a little Henry engraving for you guys that like that kind of thing. I hope to have the single engraved to match.

Glenn-

How are you going to shoot your rifle with that big screw in the guard? Aren't you afraid that it will hit your finger under recoil? I know you are not that good with working metal, so I can make you a smaller screw if you need the help.

Steve-

the metal is looking nice. I do have aquestion for you-when you say you put a radius n the action, are you talking about the top of the action, or the front edge of the action?

Mark,
the radius I added is the one on the rear of the receiver ring, just above and in front of the breech block.

Marc:

That "knob" is the selector switch for full auto.

Ken:

I like it! Can we work a couple little bunnies rabbit into it?

I do like that kind of scroll work for sure. It might be a wee bit too fine for this rifle, but we can disgust it.

Steve:

Mr. Doug Mann is putting the handle on it for me. I used to think I did stock work until I saw his...

What are you chambering the rifle in?

Glenn,
Its going to be barreled with a 28" Krieger in .450 3&1/4", I'll load low pressure Nitro loads for it. Ought to be hell on whitetails...and fun if I ever make it to Africa. A guy can dream can't he?

Good choice! A very approppriate chambering for a Henry.

I say, it does need a stalking safety, what? One simply cannot build a Henry stalking rifle in .450 without, don't you know? It's just not done, old chap.

Mr Fewless,
Maybe you could show him what an origional Henry stalking saftey looks like! Without that fancy scratching of course.
He could use measurements from that one if it would help him.
Mike
