My RBL has Case Color and exhibition wood. There is not a thing wrong with the 'engraving' but I didn't use a 7x loop to go over it with. The wood is great and equal to blanks I have payed a lot more for. Overall the gun looks quite nice, carries well and works. I was going to remove the assisted opening because of the effort to close the gun but after a round of game farm pheseant, assisted opening stays. The gun just flies open and the empties scatter without one even thinking or realizing what happened. just plunk in two more shells and be on your way. First bird i missed with two shots, second bird I got on the second shot. My son got everything else with a Superposed 20 gauge Superlite! Certainly not an objective evaluation but i am not a great shot and never have been having to contend with master left eye. With Rem field #6 loads, felt like a pop gun.
Is the gun a Winchester Model 21 20 gauge Custom Grade, no, but it sure looks as nice in its own way. Since I like SKB's, that controversacy doesn't bother me. CSMC delivered the correct gun. Try waiting 14 months for AyA to deliver the wrong gun and then you can complain. Then AyA wants me to pay the current price to reorder the gun!
I read a lot of crap from Posters about the history of the action and how CSMC would not deliver guns. Now even with guns being delivered and many satisfied customers, there are still individuals that don't have one chiming in on one individual that wasn't satisfied. The individual got his money back and that's about all one can say. -Dick

As MickeyD described it to me in an email, the gun had fingerprints in wet finish on one of the go-'rounds. That just ain't right.

The RBL does have a marked backdrop of chauvinism to it, thus the hoopla, I imagine.

Were something similar to happen with every Beretta sold it would need another Board with a special server.

I agree with Geno though. I would much prefer to know some dedicated craftsman's art was behind my double.

Two things came to mind when I read this thread. One, "Buyers remorse" and two, someone you can never please. Tony is a smart businessman and recognized this, refunded his money and walked.

It seems to me, after having seen a picture or two that MickeyD sent to me, that he had a ligitimate gripe on the things he described to me. Since MickeyD hasn't posted those pics here nor described them here to the detail he did for me, I think those of you that have taken up that MickeyD did anything you wouldn't do or somehow was the problem himself, have not given him a fair shake. If my $4k plus RBL finally arrives and it has the problems as I understand MickeyD's had, I'll not just accept what they give me because it's '...only a $4k production gun...' and I should be a good little customer. It's either a quality product that's worthy of $4k to me or it's not. As it was Mickey's money and he decided if he'd accept the gun as he recieved it or not, I'll decide for myself what I'll accept for my $4k, just as I expect each of you, that has criticized MickeyD, to do for yourselves. It's our money, CSM wants to trade a gun for it. We all make our own decisions on how it's spent, we should keep it that way.

Also to be considered is that he has a long queue waiting to pick it up. It's not as if he'll have to send it back to the warehouse to gather dust, ;-)

JC,
I think he'll have to fix the gun before anyone else'll take it, if it's as MickeyD described. Otherwise it will indeed gather dust.

Chuck,
Agreed. On the other hand he could have done it for MickeyD and kept a very happy customer.

Maybe too pickey? I remember the guy here is Houston who purchased a 682 Beretta from me. He looked the gun over very well. Took it home and a couple of days later he call and said the forearm and buttstock did not match well. (I guess the color changed by itself after he looked it over in the shop) I said I had another one he could get instead, he came back and looked the new one over extensively. Said this one was much better and took it. Another few days later he call and said that he was looking at the diamonds of the checkering under a magnifiying glass and some of the diamonds were not pointed up well. I gave his money back. Some folks think if they pay a few grand for a gun that they should get the quality of a Peter Nelson gun. Stay Well. John
