The "Type II" "F Grade" L.C. Smith hammer gun(introduced in 1898) has Royal Steel barrels and could be had in 10, 12 & 16 gauge.
Prior to 1898, the "Type I" hammer guns known as "Quality F" and had Damascus barrels in 10 and 12 gauge only.

I don't think 50 bucks would buy mine either. I killed a couple of Longbeards with it last Spring using black powder shells.

Mine has the steel barrels and although they're not numbered to the gun they do fit pretty well. I kind of like having a "cowboy" gun with
LC Smith lettered on the side. Makes me feel like Doc Holliday...Geo

The one in the pic has "Royal Steel" bbls....I shoot it as the go to hammer gun, when we have a "Hammer Gun Day" here at the place...
