John, I would have done the same as you did. Imagine having him pestering you forever. No money could compensate for that.

As to expectations, the purchaser had every right to question / complain (depends a lot on the "tone'). The bottom line that has been pointed out several times is that he got a full refund. There is absolutely nothing more to be said, other than the disappointment that he may (or may not) feel over not having the new gun. As to the price, I have a story. I took delivery on one of the elusive Gold Labels last year that I had pre-paid a store to order for me. I have exactly $1600 +$35 shipping and handling (from another state) in the gun. When it arrived, I was disappointed in the wood I got simply because it was not the wood I had seen in advertisements and handled at several shows. I called Ruger directly and expressed my disappointment and the fact that what they had done amounted, in my mind at least, to false advertising. I also told them that I felt a person who had owned 41 of there firearms in the past, and still has 19 on hand was deserving of a bit better treatment than that which I had now received. They sent me shipping instructions, paid both ways to include insurance, and in two weeks I had my GL back with verrrryyy nice wood on it - at no expense. Two extremes in price difference (chump change to some), but exactly the same results - both providers did everything they could to satisfy once it was brouht to their attention. Incidentally, my brother, another multiple Ruger owner with a GL, had exactly the same experience with exactly the same results!!

Mc'D I agree with you 100 %.

A new gun should be perfect. It doesn't matter if it's $300, $3,200 or $32,000. I don't believe that anyone in their right mind wants a new gun with issues.

If RBL can't make a perfect gun they should never have taken on the project.
There are allot of "take it or leave it" attitudes in the gun world it would be a better place without them.

chux I didn't think I was kidding.

When I first saw a picture of the RBL I thought 'that it looked like too much gun for $3,200 dollars'.
I guess by looking like 'too much' one should always expect less.
