No to what? I'm looking at a V grade Parker. Some fool had blued the frame which is the only thing stopping me from dealing on it. Can I have the blueing removed without undue cost?

Blueing comes off easy, Birchwood Casey blue remover takes it off great. What you should be concerened about is if the idjit that blued it buffed it and wrecked the engraving and such. If you are capable of stripping the works out of the frame yourself you can have it recased for less than $150 last I knew from Color Case Co.

Yes, you can buff it off but them some fool has buffed a Parker. Check Turnbulls tape on polishing side by sides.

Vinegar and elbow grease will also remove the blue.Use fine 4-0 steel wool or fine bronze wool.
Do not buff is my advice. It will probably look just fine when the blue is gone.
I would not recolor unless you refinish the stocks and other metal.
Best,
John

First off, I would give any item from which I wanted to remove bluing a good soak in acetone to remove any oil present in all the cuts and groves etc. After that, if it has been hot blued, any mild acid will remove the bluing-vinegar, lemon juice etc. The last thing I would is using any kind of "buffing" except maybe a nylon brush to scrub the hard places. --- John Can.

If you are going to send it off to have it recased, I would let them remove the bluing. When they buff it, if they are any good, they will do it without harming the engraving. As these guys mentioned, both Case and Doug Turnbull does excellent work. Good luck.
