Which countries got some limitations on using rifles during driving huntings or such? I heard about some states in US. Germany or...?

We are OK to carry uncased guns here in North Dakota as long as chambers or flashpans are empty or nipples uncapped . Nice when you see a rabid skunk and have to get on it quickly.

I believe Geno's question is asking about hunts where the game is being driven by "beaters", not about driving in your car. How do you spot a rabid skunk?

In Pennsylvania, you can use an elephant gun to hunt deer while driving, there are restrictions on the size of the party however!! Philadelphia on one side, Pittsburgh on the other and Alabama in the middle!!!! Seriously, Pennsylvania is one of the most hunter friendly states you can hunt in. All the best

Thank's, Jim. I mean huntings where a lot of people involved such as driven huntings for big games and restrictions for long range rifles in this case.

I think in PA semi-auto rifles are not allowed for deer hunting. Also in some parts of US only shotguns are legal for deer hunting, I imagine for safety reasons. Here in Slovenia the only restriction is that semi-auto rifles must not be loaded with more than 3 rounds (2+1). Regards, Jani

Geno,
Maryland allows deer hunting only with shotguns (usually slugs). Logic is that rifle bullets carry too far and the state is very populous.
Was out yesterday at the invitation of a friend to hunt Hungarian partridge. Saw some good dog work, made a few nice shots, some spectacularly bad shots and have a few birds for dinner.
Regards, Tim

Geno,
To the best of my knowledge there are no restrictions on firearms based on the style of hunting. Driven hunts for deer are not the most common form of hunting, but they are done.

In Georgia and South Carolina, and perhaps other places, hunt clubs use dogs to drive the deer to the standers. It is usual for standers to be placed about 500 yards apart and the firearm is a shotgun with buck shot. When there are shots and the dogs hint that there is a kill, the standers are picked up. At the end of the day, the deer are butchered and a drawing is done for the meat. All that wish some, are in for the draw. Very safe and a great social occasion. Best, John

That ain't the Georgia/South Carolina I know. It is common to see 3-5 guys strung out on a gravel road with all manner of riflery waiting for deer to bust across as they are driven by other hunters or dogs. Definitely not safe by my way of thinking.
