Ithaca made a survival over under for the Air Force (I think it was the Air Force). I wasn't aware that the Stevens 22-410 was ever government issue.

Here is a picture of the M6, by Springfield.

This auction has more pictures:
http://www.auctionarms.com/search/displa.....No%20Reserve!

The M6 is available in 22RF or 22 hornet with a 410 barrel.

Here is a Stevens 22-410 marked USAF.

All I can add is that the Air Force was constantly creating and recreating survival kits.

If I recall correctly, the main arm those aluminum .410 shells were used in was a folding .22 Hornet/.410 combination gun which had a skeletonized stock that was also used for cartridge storage. It was issued in a survival kit case with other supplies. It also had a stud trigger like an early S&W revolver or a Stevens "Pocket Rifle." Don't know the manufacturer, but the basic idea clearly came from the Savage/Stevens M24 issued earlier in .22/.410. I believe the survival gun was all metal. Anyone know the military designation? Manufacturer? Were .410 slugs issued as well?
