Thanks Kerryman. BTW I sent you a PM about the duration of the gun license. Has it gone to three years yet? I thought it was supposed to go that way last year but my renewal is still for one year. It's a royal pain since I'm rarely there in August so my sister usually does it for me.

I didn't get the PM, so sorry for any apparent rudeness. The license period remains at 1 year, but in my experience they are not that fussy about immediate renewal once "they" know you. If it becomes a concern let me know and I will do it for you, I guess yours is in Cahirciveen also?

Kerryman, thanks for the offer. I won't be there this August either but my sister will take care of it. Yes, Cahirciveen is the place. I didn't shoot in Ireland this past season. I just went hunting in Pennsylvania, the last time in a snow storm, the only time I've ever seen a quail perch high up in a tree. I was urged to shoot by my host but found the situation beyond pathetic.

The prices Kerryman found are interesting. I found my regent in Vienna in the pre-Euro days. I think I paid the equivalent of $1600 delivered for it.

Frankly, you did not miss much, it was a very bad one for me in Kerry, the worst in many years. I had two friends over from the UK in early November for snipe & woodcock. It was like summer and on the third day one rather embarrasingly asked if he could leave the gun at home and walk, just to enjoy the scenery. Although they shot nothing they had a wonderful time, have invited themselves back this year for some fishing and have invited me to their driven shoot in Devon this coming season! K.

My fee for the rifle is Euro 38, first shotgun is 25 and all subsequent are 6. I have not heard that this will change.
